In May 2024, Sithi Knhom – My Rights launched its Art and Law project, blending spoken theatre (Lakhorn Niyey) with panel discussions to make legal concepts accessible. Focusing on Rule of Law and Democracy, the event engaged 200+ participants, showcasing art’s power to drive dialogue on justice and social issues.
Following its success, Volume 2 explores Deconstructing Consent in Neang But Somalu Botum Vatey, addressing consent’s role in preventing violence and fostering healthy relationships. Through interactive discussions and Khmer Classical Dance, the project challenges harmful norms, raises awareness of women’s rights, and advocates for legal reforms to strengthen protections.
This year, ItaCham proudly supports the initiative, recognizing its creative approach to social education. ItaCham’s Arts & Culture section, Italian Cambodian Arts, champions artistic exchange, co-hosting over 40 cultural events, including Madama Butterfly’s full-scale Cambodian production.
By backing Art & Law, ItaCham reinforces the power of culture in advocating for rights, shaping public discourse, and fostering meaningful societal change.
